This tutorial is for these cute little chocolate frogs that are filled with a delicious peanut butter filling! This no-bake dessert would be perfect for this Halloween or any Harry Potter or wizard themed party!
Products used in this Post:
- Cybrtrayd Frog Mold
- Wilton Brown Candy Melts
- Wilton Candy Melting Pot
- Disposable Pastry Bags
- Gold Luster Dust
- Wilton Food Safe Brush Set
Make the Filling:
Start by making the yummy peanut butter filling! You can use any filling you want if you want to make it peanut free, try Edible Cookie Dough or some marshmallow fluff or just make them without any filling at all!
After you make the peanut butter filling set it aside.
Sweet Peanut Butter Filling
- 4 TBSP Unsalted Butter
- 1 Cup Peanut Butter
- 1 1/2 Cups Powder Sugar
- 1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
- In a small sacepan, combine the butter and peanut butter. Melt over medium heat while stirring. Remove from heat.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and powdered sugar until combined.
- Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
Melting the Candy:
Melt the chocolate candy melts in a candy melting pot.
If you do not have one you can use a microwave safe bowl and using 30 second cycles melt the chocolate candy melts in the microwave. Stir well after each cycle until candy melts are fully melted and smooth.
Transfer the melted candy into a disposable pastry bag and snip off the tip.
Fill the sides and bottom of the frog mold. Use the food safe brush to help paint the sides of the mold.
Give the mold a couple taps on the counter to remove any air bubbles. Then place the mold into the fridge to let harden up for about 10-15 minutes.
Filling the mold with Peanut butter filling:
Remove the mold from the fridge and place about a tablespoon of the peanut butter filling into each cavity. Smooth out the peanut butter filling with the back of a spoon.
Finish filling up the tops of each cavity with more melted chocolate candy melts being sure not to overfill or your frogs won’t sit flat.
Give the mold a couple gentle taps on the counter to remove any more air bubbles and place into the fridge for one hour or until fully set and hard.
Remove the Frogs:
To remove the frogs from the mold, simply flip it upside down on a flat surface and give it a couple gentle taps. The frogs should come right out!
Next, I added some gold luster dust to the body of the frogs using a dry food safe brush. This just helps bring out the details in the frogs.
I also mixed some gold luster dust with a little clear vanilla extract and painted on some gold eyes! This step is optional but I love the demission it adds to these chocolate frogs!
